The BSOD or Blue Screen of Death has attained legendary status for Microsoft Windows users, as the symbol of the well-and-truly crashed system. Subsequent versions of Windows have reduced the number of blue screens, lockups and general buginess, but they still occur more often than they should for such a mature (and expensive) operating system.
Should we be looking at alternatives? For running servers, I'd say definitely. Is Windows reliable and versatile enough to be run in embedded systems? Well, you be the judge..
