Oh, the original problem was that FreeBSD 6.1 was giving me some weird error on bootup, concerning a Realtek gigabit Ethernet card.. "re0: 2 link states coalesced" Yes, that was Coalesced. Coalesced! What have they got poets writing their bloody error messages now!?
